German-American biologist. Best known for his experimental studies on his artificial parthenogenesis (reproduction without fertilization). Loeb succeeded in maturing unfertilized eggs of sea urchins and frogs by manipulating the environment that affects cell division. He also studied the tropism of plants and simple animals. H. Their reflex response to environmental stimuli. Before he was thirty, he published the “Tropism Theory” to make him famous. Loeb also worked on brain physiology and tissue regeneration.
