The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the entrance exam for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses in India. The NEET UG 2023 Exam Pattern is as follows:
- Exam Mode: NEET UG is a pen-and-paper-based test conducted in offline mode.
- Exam Duration: The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
- Number of Questions: There are a total of 180 questions in the NEET UG exam.
- Section A and B with 35 questions. And 15 questions respectively, out of these 15 questions (Sec B) candidates can choose to attempt any 10 Questions.
- Types of Questions: All questions are multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options.
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer carries 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions.
- Subjects and Number of Questions: The NEET UG exam includes questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The subject-wise distribution of questions is as follows:

Section A
- This section is MCQ based, candidates need to choose one option as the correct or most appropriate answer.
- Correct answers will receive four marks (+4).
- An incorrect option marked will receive minus one mark (-1).
- Unanswered questions will not receive any marks (0).
- If more than one option is correct, candidates who marked any of the correct options will receive four marks (+4).
- If all options are correct, all candidates who attempted the question will receive four marks (+4).
- If a question is found to be incorrect or dropped, all candidates who attempted the question will receive four marks (+4).
Section B
- Candidates need to attempt any 10 out of 15 questions given.
- In case a candidate attempts more than 10 questions, only the first 10 attempted questions will be considered for evaluation.

- Unanswered questions in Section B will not receive any marks (0).
