Francis Harry Compton Crick was a British biochemist and biophysicist who ultimately shared the 1962 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for determining the molecular structure of deoxyribonucleic acid, the chemical responsible for the hereditary control of life functions. Crick and Watson began collaborating in 1951 and published their paper on the double helix structure in Nature on April 2, 1953.
