- Andrew Victor Schally is a Polish-American biochemist and endocrinologist who shared (with Roger Guillemin and Rosalyn Yalow) the 1977 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine.
- He was noted for isolating and synthesizing three hormones that are produced by the region of the brain known as the hypothalamus.
- These accomplishments were the synthesis of TRH, the isolation and synthesis of LH-RH, and studies of the action of somatostatin.
