Aspergilloma fungus ball or mycetoma is the local & isolated settlement of a mold (usually Aspergillus fumigatus ) in pre-existing natural ( paranasal sinuses ) or pathological (cysts, tuberculous cavities ) cavities.
It is a noninvasive type of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis.
Chest X-ray shows a round shadow the size of a walnut (arrows) within a cavern, surrounded by an air sickle or a larger air space in the middle field of both halves of the lungm (patient after a bone marrow transplant for acute myeloid leukemia)
