Biochemistry syllabus in China
- Biochemistry for medical students is a key course, it is not only biochemical theory
connected to the better understanding of medical science, but also techniques play an
an important role in medical practice. - As a medical doctor in the future, a good command of biochemical sciences will certainly promote ones future development.
- Today the knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology has penetrated nearly every field of medical science.
Course Description:
- Our course includes the study of proteins and enzymes, carbohydrates, fatty-acid metabolism, and molecular genetics.
- This course is designed as a preparation for graduate studies.
- An advanced biochemical course is organized for long-term studies, which includes other topics such as hormones, cell membranes, the genome and so on.
Teaching methods
- Theory Lectures: five hours/week of lectures to learn principles and concepts.
- Practice Lecture:
- Three hours per week for experimental practice.
- Theories of assigned assays, students are divided into small groups (6 students for each group).
- Get results, analyze data, and discussion of the possible outcomes.
- Class discussion: at the end of each chapter, under the guidance of the faculty, outline the overall content, concepts, and principles.
- Analyze the choose questions, review questions, and the relationship among different chapters.
- Developing skills for theoretical concepts and capability of basic biochemical tests.
