Edward L Thorndike was a US psychologist who is considered the father of Educational Psychology, which studies the learning process in animals, children and adults. Connectivity theory proposed that mental or behavioral responses to certain stimuli are the result of a trial and error process that produces neural connections that connect the stimuli with the most satisfying response. Gradually, the animal learned what to do to escape, and the escape time became shorter.
