Scientists are working on a groundbreaking injectable “microbots” to treat brain conditions like epilepsy by detecting and preventing seizures. These tiny microbots, implanted in the brain and controlled with a wearable device, will monitor electrical activity and provide targeted neurostimulation to counteract seizures.
The project, known as CROSSBRAIN, involves researchers from Tor Vergata University of Rome and the University of Glasgow. The microbots aim to improve the treatment options for epilepsy and other brain disorders by offering precise and selective intervention.
