Karl Spencer Lashley was an American psychologist who conducted quantitative investigations into the relationship between brain mass and learning ability. Lashley promulgated the theory of cortical specialization for sensory and motor functions. The controversy between localization and the holistic emphasis of brain function was highlighted by Lashley.
