The Austrian biologist claimed to have provided experimental evidence that the acquired properties could be inherited. Almost all of Kammerer’s experiments involved forcing various amphibians to behave in an environment that was radically different from their original environment to prove Lamarkian’s legacy. When he was later accused of pretending exceptional results with a midwife toad, he was shot during the depression.
