An English surgeon and pathologist who has studied congenital syphilis for life. He was a surgeon at a London hospital and professor of surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons. He recorded observations made during his extensive clinical experience in more than 1,200 medical articles. Its name remains associated with a number of medical terms, including the Hutchinson triad, but now known as sarcoidosis, as it was named by the Norwegian dermatologist Cæsar Peter Møller Boeck. Hutchinson was promoted to aristocracy in 1908.
